DocBook to PDF?

On linux xsltproc is usually installed by default in most distributions. To get to PDF it looks like its at least a 2 stage process (but could be automated with a Makefile)

Furthermore…. I think OpenOffice 3.0 can read and write DocBook (just have to load a DocBook Style) and it has good PDF output capbabilities. Its Open Source/Free as well.

Mike, see if there is a XSLTransformer for Windows. (Assuming you are Windows centric, I’m Mac/Linux centric)
The DocBook is well published as you know, and being that’s XML there are many resources/ways to convert XML to PDF (or HTML or anything really) using XSL Transforms.
Find out more here: http://wiki.docbook.org/topic/DocBookXslStylesheets

If all of that is too overwhelming and XMLMind does a good job at a reasonable price you may be more comfortable with that solution.

Working out volunteer management

The only thing I can think of is some of our jobs are split per meet. But I think this would still work by creating a job description for each split.

wp-SwimTeam 0.1.442 available

Ah ha! I did have my labels like you suspected. And now I can enter a new club??? Must be some sort of oddity, but with the labels corrected I no longer see the error.
Thanks!

New bug. I was adding a club to the database today. I’m in Swim Team -> Manage -> Swim Clubs.
When I enter the data, I noticed that State was labeled as “NC” and “Zipcode” was labeled with my zipcode (27614). I figured it was simply a display issue but when I “Save” I get an error that “27614″ field can not be empty. No matter what I put in this field it produces an error.
So I can’t add any new clubs at the moment.

Here’s a snapshot to help in explanation:

Ramping back up for Swim Team

I found what I think may be a bug. I was setting some things up for this season 2010. I created the season, and Status was set to InActive and I could not set this (greyed out) to active during the add process.
So I went to 2009 season to change it to inactive (since I didn’t do this at the end of last season), then saved.
Then I could set the 2010 to active.
Ok, now for the bug…. Once I was back in the list view, I noticed my 2009 season now had 2010 dates. Also I can’t go back and change the dates to 2009 because 2010 is the oldest date I can choose.

Along these same lines I didn’t enter the results for the last 2 meets of last season, and now I can’t because I can’t pick 2009 and therefore wp-swimteam says the dates are outside of the season.

Here’s the initial feedback. It is fairly simple but for some reason these really kept tripping me up last year.
Format of feedback is:
Menu(or left tab):
Tab:

Swim Team
My Swimmers: This is the entire swim team. Is this because we don’t have any swimmers registered to parents?
Swim Meets: Why is this here? Just for information purposes?
Results button: No description and pressing it says its not implemented.

Manage: Is this only visible to admins? or all users? I’d like it to be admins only.
Swim Meets: I found myself last year constantly going to the Swim Team/Swim Meets to try to enter results. Then getting confused of how to do it.

I subscribed to comments, so I’m seeing these now.
I’ll open up the interface and make sure of the version I have. I think you also made some updates but didn’t put out a plugin update late last year. Do you have any versions you want to post so I have a clean start?

Too funny. Looks like swim teams start dusting things off about the same time each year!
My site is hosted on godaddy, so it seems to still be running.
You mentioned that you had also worked on a landing page for non-admin users (e.g. Parents).

I’m open for getting back into this, and trying to remember what I found confusing for the menus last year.
(I didn’t see the comment from last time, I guess there isn’t a send me a message when new response)

Charting Results

Mike, Progress looks awesome! I’d like to help, in particular I’d like to reorganize the tabs/menu systems.

wp-SwimTeam v0.1.417 – Meet Report Shortcode

I’ve been wondering if I’m doing more than I need to with the Google Maps URL. Currently for me to add a club I have to enter all the information (including an Address) and add a Google Maps URL.
If I do not enter a Google Maps URL and I do have an Address, couldn’t the Google Maps URL be automatically generated in the [wpst_meet_report] shortcode? I’m not familiar with the Google API but from a manual entry perspective I’m really entering the same data on a form, then copying that data and entering it into Google Maps search box, then clicking Link and copying the IM/Email link.

Futures

Any testing/statement on trying out WordPress 3.0?

» Posted By Michael Hale On July 8, 2010 @ 3:02 pm

Features

Just listing some ideas for future features:
GeoCode SwimTeam(s) address using GoogleMaps API (if a GoogleMap URL doesn’t exist)
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/services.html#Geocoding

wpst_meet_report
- Add a Meet summary: “Home or Away”, “Date”, “Special Instructions”

wpst_meet_schedule
- Allow for column control.
- I have it displayed in a right column, but more info is there than can be displayed. I’d like to just be able to show Date and Home or Away..
- Allow for Date Format (Currently seems forced to “Tue Jun 8, 2010″ type of format. Could save some space on my column using 6/8/10 format.
